Tutorial: How do I add a YouTube Video to my Website or Blog?

YouTube have made it very easy to share videos via your website or blog with the minimum of fuss.

To add a video to your site, take the following steps:

1. Next to any YouTube video you will find the About This Video box.
2. Select Customize if you want to change a video’s style.
3. Copy the Embed code and paste it into your HTML code.
4. You can change the size of the video by amending the width and height of the object:

Tips: YouTube and Increasing your Website’s Traffic

1. When adding your own videos: Include a link to your website in the description (preferably at the beginning of the description so by default it is visible) and add tags relevant to the video and your website.
2. Link to other videos of relevance. As you drive traffic to YouTube, a link to your website will be added for example:

10 clicks from http://www.motorlawyers.co.uk/fiat_racing_challenge.htm

What is PHP?
PHP (the abbreviation of PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor)  is an open-source language that is used to create dynamic and interactive web pages. For example, you can use PHP to interact with your visitors via a Contact Us Form. 

How can I check if my host supports PHP and what version they are running?

1. Using notepad (or other text editor) create an ASCII text file and add the following line of code:
   <?php phpinfo() ?>
2. Save the text file as test.php. 
3. Make sure the file has the correct extension ie test.php and NOT test.php.txt.
4. Upload to your server (in ASCII mode).
5. Test the file in your web browser, eg www.yoursite.com/test.php



If your host supports PHP, the file will confirm:

1. The version of PHP they are running; and

2. Their specific settings.
